FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Open
The Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Disaster Recovery Center for Seminole County residents affected by Tropical Storm Fay will open Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Reflections Plaza, 520 W. Lake Mary Blvd., Suite 103 in Sanford from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. until further notice.
Individuals whose property has suffered damage due to conditions brought on by Tropical Storm Fay that falls within the scope of the federal disaster declaration can request assistance from FEMA. Individual assistance can include grants to help pay for temporary housing, home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses not met by insurance or other assistance programs. Low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) also will be available to cover residential and business losses not fully compensated by insurance.

Parking Survey
On-Street Parking Survey
The Winter Springs Police Department is currently collecting data concerning on-street parking in the following neighborhoods Oak Forest, Mt. Greenwood, and North Orlando Terrace. If you are currently living in any of those neighborhoods, you are encouraged to take this short survey regarding on-street parking. Your results will be sent over to Captain Glenn Tolleson of the Winter Springs Police Department.
Winter Springs Ranked #2 in Florida and #31 in US as Best Place to Live

Economic opportunity, good schools, safe streets, things to do, a sense of community and Winter Springs' new Town Center were some of the factors that ranked Winter Springs the 31st best place to live in the United States, according to the August issue of Money Magazine. Previously, Winter Springs was rated the best city in the United States in which to purchase a home, based upon ten quality of life criteria, by MSN Advisory Services.
