WINTER SPRINGS, FL – The City of Winter Springs has always provided high-quality drinking water and excellent water services to residents.  The City's two current wastewater treatment plants are reaching the end of their useful service lives.  While the City evaluates options for major repairs, replacement or even the elimination of these water treatment plants, immediate improvements, including mechanical repairs and process control upgrades, are needed for the facilities to operate efficiently and maintain compliance.

At the October 14, 2019 City Commission Meeting, the Winter Springs Commission voted unanimously to contract with Veolia Water North America - South, LLC (Veolia), a recognized industry leader in water treatment facilities management, to assume the operation, maintenance, and management services for the City's water, wastewater, stormwater, and reclaimed water utilities.   Under this contract, Veolia will assume responsibility for managing the City's two wastewater plants, three water plants, reuse augmentation plant, reclaimed water storage and pumping system, and City maintained lift stations.

“Contracting with Veolia is the right decision for the City of Winter Springs,” said Shawn Boyle, Winter Springs City Manager.  “Our City has always had excellent water quality, and we want to make certain that record continues.  As we evaluate the option for upgrading or replacing our existing water treatment facilities as they continue to age, we need a partner that could ensure our water continued to be safe and healthy for our residents.  Veolia is a recognized industry leader in water treatment facilities management and the perfect partner to help the City with this project.”

"Veolia is proud to be partnering with the City of Winter Springs to deliver high-quality water services to the people of this community," said Robert Nicholas, Vice President of Business Development for Veolia's Municipal & Commercial Division. "We currently serve more than 150 municipalities across the country, and we look forward to bringing our resources and expertise to help meet the needs of Winter Springs. We are committed to being a responsible community partner, and will work diligently to be responsive to any questions that the community may have about water operations."
